Day 4 — Places I want to Visit

A little backstory: I lived overseas in several different countries since I was 9 months old until I finished elementary school. Being overseas is such an amazing experience because everything is so different. It’s great to learn, see, and experience new things because it helps you grow as a person. I spent most of my childhood in Southeast Asia, and travelled with family to several other countries like Japan, Hong Kong, and the Netherlands. However, Indonesia itself is such a big country which makes exploring new places worthwhile as well.

Here are some places on my bucket list:

  1. Russia — The country with the biggest landmass on Earth. The main reason is because I’m interested in learning about the rise and fall of probably the biggest union of countries in recent times, the USSR. I’m also quite interested in their culture, especially in Arts and Literature. Also, let’s not forget the experience of harsh weather and liquor.
  2. France — Ah yes, the ‘land of romance’. I studied French since I was a child and it’d be great to try it out. I’m also a big fan of their cuisine.
  3. New York and California — You see them a lot in the movies. Would’t it be nice to visit these places? Who knows, you might bump into someone famous on the street.
  4. Labuan Bajo, Raja Ampat, and Komodo Island — Indonesia is well known for it’s amazing environment and scenery. These islands probably have the best beaches in Indonesia. It oozes chill vibes and the sea. Plus, it’s not as crowded as more famous destinations such as Bali and Lombok. As a beach person, this would be heaven.
  5. Okinawa and Hokkaido — I’ve been to Japan before but I’ve never been to these destinations. Okinawa is sort of like the Hawaii of Japan, and Hokkaido is the much colder, snowy part (Alaska?). Each of Japan’s regions have very unique food depending on what they grow and catch. So food such as ramen can taste very different depending on where you are. Nice? Nice.
  6. Santorini, Greece — Yes I know, another coastal city. It looks so cool in the photos, and it looks like the perfect honeymoon spot. We’ll see what happens when I get married.

There you have it. Based on the list you can probably sense what places I like and, probably, don’t like. If a place has great culture, food, and scenery, I’m down.
